OUR STRATEGY
Where Are We At As A World?
2024 eating disorder statistics:
- 70 million people have an eating disorder.
- Around one in five female athletes and one in 12 male athletes are affected.
- Every 62 minutes at least one person dies as a direct result from an eating disorder.
- 75% of people with an eating disorder don’t seek professional help.
The media has often portrayed eating disorders as something that primarily affects thin women, but we want to emphasise that anyone can suffer from an eating disorder. Misconceptions and stigma have created confusion about what an eating disorder actually is.
At Re-minded, we believe that no matter what you look like, if you’re struggling with food, body image, or training, you are welcome here. We're here to support your journey to recovery.
Where Do We Come In?
We’ve set an ambitious goal: to become the leading business supporting athletes in their recovery from eating disorders.
Our message to athletes is that recognising and addressing an eating disorder is not a sign of weakness - it's a sign of strength. It shows their commitment not only to their sport but also to enjoying all that life has to offer.

OUR APPROACH
At Re-minded, we aim to provide our clients with the tools and education to recover from an eating disorder whilst performing at their best. We want to enable recovery that lasts a lifetime by helping our clients become self-sufficient in the long term. Recovery support works in three phases: behavioural, cognitive-emotional, and relapse prevention. Joel seeks to uncover the root cause behind your eating disorder, so you can have a greater understanding that there are many factors contributing to it, rather than you thinking it's all your own fault.
Joel draws upon the skills he has learned through his training, as well as his real-life experience. Joel holds the National Centre for Eating Disorders Practitioner Advanced Diploma in Eating Disorders and follows their specialised approach to counselling athletes dealing with eating disorders. This method is more directive and solution-focused than traditional counselling, providing tailored support for those managing these challenges alongside their athletic performance.
