FAQ's

How long does it take to recover from an eating disorder?

Everyone's eating disorder is individual, therefore we're unable to clarify a specific timeframe for how long recovery can take. Although, we do believe that six weeks is the minimum time it takes to start seeing any form of behaviour change.

Is it only skinny people who suffer with an eating disorder?

No, at Re-minded we're passionate about breaking the narrative that one must be skinny to qualify as having an eating disorder.

Do I have to stop playing sport or stop being active to recover?

There may be points during recovery where we will challenge you, but overall we want to encourage everyone to keep enjoying their sport or activity.

We understand how much joy sport brings to people's lives, therefore we are determined to help people recover from their eating disorder whilst performing in their sport or activity.

Is it only women who have eating disorders?

No, similar to the question above regarding being skinny, this is a narrative we also want to change at Re-minded. Women have always been open about their struggles with eating disorders, but men equally share the same issues.

Is there an age limit for clients?

We help individuals recover from the ages of 14 and above.

How often do I need to attend recovery support sessions?

Our objective is to meet with clients on a weekly basis until they have the tools to sufficiently manage themselves independently. Following this, we transition to meetings every fortnight, then monthly sessions, until the client feels prepared to move forward autonomously.

Is Re-minded insured?

Yes, we are partnered with Balens.

What is the assessment process?

There are three stages to the assessment process, to learn about the full assessment process click here

Are you a private provider?

What if I don't hear anything when I submit my email?

The most likely explanation for not hearing anything is that there has been a technical difficulty. It's worth checking your junk email to see if an email has gone in there. If not, just get in touch via our number.

Do I need to be sporty or active to work with Re-minded?

No, if you feel that Joel is a good fit for you then we want to support as many people as we can recover from an eating disorder.
